What you need to know
- Monster Hunter Rise is an action adventure game where players must slay large monsters.
- A free downloadable expansion for the game, titled Sunbreak, releases in Summer 2022.
- Capcom revealed new amiibo figures that will release alongside the Sunbreak DLC.
Monster Hunter Rise provided tons of content, DLC, and free Event Quests for fans to engage with. In the September 2021 Nintendo Direct, Capcom also showcased a teaser for their new free DLC expansion for the game, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
During The Game Awards, Capcom presented another teaser trailer for Sunbreak, this time giving more insight into the monsters available and revealing the new locale's name, Elgado.
Though it's just a teaser trailer, Capcom did also briefly reveal new amiibo that are set to release alongside the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion. These three figures feature Malzeno, the expansion's flagship monster, alongside a Palamute and Palico figure wearing Malzeno-themed armor.
When used in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, these amiibo unlock special themed armor. Capcom hasn't stated whether the amiibo will be compatible with the base game, but we'll be sure to keep you posted. Unfortunately, the amiibo also seem to be exclusive to the My Nintendo Store. While you won't be able to go out and purchase these in person, the upside is that scalpers are less likely to buy them all out.
