Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon might as well add half of Hollywood royalty at this point.

As reported by Variety, John Lithgow, best known for his roles in 3rd Rock From the Sun, Dexter, and Shrek, has signed on to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. According to the report, Lithgow will play a prosecutor in the film. It will be the actor's first time working with Scorsese.

John Lithgow has joined the cast of Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon," playing the role of a prosecutor. The two-time Oscar nominee will be part of an ensemble that also includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons.

Lithgow was recently nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the HBO series "Perry Mason" and had a supporting turn as Fox News founder Roger Ailes in "Bombshell." His credits include "Terms of Endearment," "The World According to Garp," "Cliffhanger" and "Love Is Strange." On television, he has played Winston Churchill in "The Crown," a serial killer in "Dexter" and an alien with a penchant for pratfalls in "3rd Rock From the Sun." He's also a Tony-winning stage actor, having appeared in the likes of "Requiem for a Heavyweight," "M. Butterfly" and a musical adaptation of "The Sweet Smell of Success." This marks Lithgow's first time appearing in a Scorsese film.

In addition to Lithgow, the film already stars other heavy hitters like Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and just recently Brendan Fraser.

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on the bestselling novel of the same name and follows the story of a string of serial murders that occurred in Oklahoma in the 1920s that later became known as the Reign of Terror.

This new film is based on the book Killers Of The Flower Moon: The Osage Murders And The Birth Of The FBI, a book about a series of murders of affluent Osage Native Americans in Oklahoma. The film is set in the 1920s and follows the discovery of oil deposits beneath the lands of the aforementioned Native Americans. Deadline notes "the ensuing investigation established the FBI and was a pivotal moment in the evolution of America from its frontier era."
