These gorgeous grass wallpapers will give you those Mac OS X Leopard feels

What you need to know

  • Steve Jobs took a close-up photo of grass that appeared as a wallpaper in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
  • Now Matt Birchler has created his own wallpapers, inspired by Jobs'. And they're much higher resolution!

The grass is always greener.

Steve Jobs took a close-up photo of grass that appeared as a wallpaper in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, but it wasn't the highest resolution in the world. Now, you can take a trip down memory lane after new wallpapers were created — in much higher resolution for modern Macs.

These new wallpapers were created by Matt Birchler and look absolutely stunning. They're all available in glorious 6K resolution after being taken on a Canon EOS RP with a 35mm f/1.8 lens one wet morning. The results are pretty great and there are six images to choose from.

Wallpaper Weekend continues with a second set of wallpapers, this time inspired by the awesome grass wallpaper in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Apparently Steve Jobs took that photo, so I'm not going to suggest mine are better, but I will say that mine are higher resolution, so I've got that going for me.

All six wallpapers are available on Gumroad for a minimum of a dollar. Pay more than that, though — they're pretty sweet!

You'll need a nice, high-resolution Mac to make the most of these things of course. The new M1 iMac would be a good start! Don't have one yet? Bag yourself one after checking out our list of the best iMac deals we could find online!
