Fitness app Träning gains support for distance-based goals

What you need to know

  • Träning is a workout app that's designed to help you set goals for your activities.
  • Träning 1.4 adds support for distance-based goals for the first time.

Working out is fine, but you need to do it consistently. That's where Träning helps out.

We all know that fitness is important and exercise is needed to make the best of it. But building the habits needed isn't always easy. Träning is an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch app that aims to help out with that particular problem and it just received its version 1.4 update.

Träning uses the combination of base and stretch goals to help users set a realistic base goal. The stretch goal lets you create the ambitious goal, but it's the base goal that's important to keep you motivated.

When life gets in the way, which it inevitably will, Träning focuses on the average number of workouts during the goal. This provides the user the ability to pick up the habit again without feeling like they have failed their goal.

Building on existing features, Träning 1.4 now also adds support for distance-based goals for the first time. Now, you can set a goal to run 10 miles per week, for example. And it'll all be tracked and visible via widgets on your Home screen.

The app has three main parts to it.

1. A fixed time frame, so you're able to complete it, e.g. 4 weeks. 2. A base goal e.g. working out once a week. 3. A stretch goal e.g. working out three times a week.

After that, it's over to you. You'll still need something like the Apple Watch Series 6 to keep track of things like your heart rate, though. If the Apple Watch isn't your thing there are tons more fitness trackers with heart rate monitors available on the market, too.

You can download Träning from the App Store now. It's free with in-app purchases available.
