Can I choose what I wear in New Pokémon Snap?

Best answer: While Nintendo or The Pokémon Company hasn't officially confirmed customization options, there is evidence that there will be at least some limited customization options.

A whole new world to see!

Pokémon, the long-running monster-collecting series, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in a big way. Not only has The Pokémon Company graced fans with tons of special edition merch, but they've also announced a bevy of new games, including a remake of the fourth generation games, titled Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, a brand new open-world game called Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and of course, New Pokémon Snap, the sequel to the beloved N64 classic.

New Pokémon Snap introduces players to the Lental region, a new region full of familiar Pokémon faces just waiting to be photographed. And while the Pokémon get ready for the closeup, players wonder if they'll be able to customize themselves? The answer is both yes and no — customization options have not been confirmed yet, but it seems like there are limited customization options available to players.

Not many choices

A screenshot posted by the official Pokémon Twitter account back in January shared a glimpse of some of the customization you can expect from the game. The screenshot seems to imply that you can choose one of four different skin tones. A message in yellow text also seems to suggest that the changes are set in stone and can't be changed after they've been chosen.

A closer look at the photos shows that each photographer is wearing the same outfit. Is the warning in yellow text for skin tone only, or can I really not change my outfit? It's disappointing to see the minimal customization options, considering the many different outfits and styles available in Pokémon Sword and Shield, but it may be because you'll be behind the camera for most of your trip through Lental.

New Pokemon Snap is just one of the many Pokémon games available on the Nintendo Switch. We're sure to learn more about the next safari as we get closer to the game's release on April 30th for the Nintendo Switch. Be sure to preorder a copy for yourself now so you can play it the day it releases.
